"Hope is great, but we need caffeine." – Mohinder
Setting: Post Hellboy II
AN: Preggo or not, Liz NEEDS Coffee
"Myers! Did you forget to buy coffee?" I riffle through the cupboard. I need some caffeine, now. My head is pounding and I can barely keep my eyes open. Red's out doing God knows what. I know it's dangerous, because he won't tell me a damn thing about it. Why the hell I have stay home makes no sense to me. I’m pregnant, not made of paper!
"MYERS!" I shout again, “Coffee, where is it?” I stand quickly and turn. "Shit!" He's standing right behind me. We both jump when I shout.
"Here Liz. Coffee." He hands me a large canister. I quit smoking, no way am I giving up caffeine. These babies will just have to be hyper.
"Oh, thanks." I grin at the canister as I grab it from his hands. I rip off the top and grab a can opener, looking at the canister as I twist the knob on the opener. “Wait a second.”
"Myers?" I let out a little growl. I almost sound like Red when he gets angry. We both spend way to much time being angry lately, between my hormones and Red trying to get our own paranormal detective agency off the ground. I blink at the canister a few times. God damn, he's an idiot sometimes. "THIS IS DECAF!"
I watch the plastic lid I'm still holding melt in my hands as they burst into flames. Decaf is worse than not having coffee at all; it's a mockery of coffee, a pure bastardization. "Decaf is NOT Coffee, John!" I hiss at him.
"I'm sorry!" He put his hands up defensively. "I was in a hurry and I grabbed the wrong kind." I forgot how afraid of my fire he is. I’m not going to burn him. I’m just mad. I want coffee. Real coffee.
“Can’t you just try the decaf, Liz?” Myers looks at me hopefully. It takes me a second to realize what’s going on.
“Red put you up to this, didn’t he?” I growl again. It would be just like him to do that.
“No Liz I swear, it was just a mistake.” He looks nervous. He should be, I don’t like it when people try to pull a fast one on me.
“Hey, Babe.” I hear Red voice behind me. I turn and face him, angry.
“Red, don’t call me ‘Babe’” I glare at him.
“You look tense, Babe.” He lowers his face to mine and gives me a quick kiss. “ Maybe you need to switch to Decaf.”
