[info]rp_shadesofgray Notes and History

(This post is to serve as personal notes for RP and for those who want to read a summary of what has happened to Liz in the Shades of Gray World so far. For a summary of Liz's threads please see here)

Liz breaks canon after the first Hellboy movie.

She left BPRD again about one month after the end of the first film. She's she realized she just couldn’t love Hellboy the way that he loves her.

What happened in Russia with Red was a mistake, and Liz feels nearly as guilty about it as she goes killing her family when she was 11. Her goal is to avoid the stress and drama it would cause the entire Bureau if she stayed knowing full well Red’s true feelings and not being able to reciprocate. As in the comics my version of Liz smokes. She also feels nervous around authority figures. Authority always meant someone else was trying to control her, or even use her. She’s slow to really trust new people, yet is somewhat chatty and very friendly because she is lonely and eager to make a good impression. She has a weak spot for helping people who are hurting or in trouble. She's kind of a geek, which is the result of spending her more formative years as friends all guys.

She came to the Company because a job was available as Gabriel "Sylar" Petrelli's Executive Assistant, and to her amazement, she got the job after her first interview. She hope to leave the world of freaks and monsters behind her, but she’s fast realizing the there is a whole world of so called freaks outside of what she’s seen working for the BPRD.

Current and Past Shades Of Gray Roleplaying threads can be seen here.

Major Shades of Gray Relationships

Gabriel "Sylar" Pertelli [livejournal.com profile] thewatchmaker
Sylar (Which Liz refers to him as, this is the name he told her to call him when they first met) was the first person to show Liz respect and have real confidence in her outside of the BPRD. As a result, Liz has an almost blind loyalty when it comes to Sylar. She is naturally curious, but she never makes an effort to dig up anything on Sylar that isn't readily offered to her by him. She defends him almost vehemently from people who say he's just a killer, and can't change. These kinds of statements hit a little too close to home for Liz because of the numerous deaths she has caused, including all those at recently Bellamie Hospital. As she slowly learns more about his past, she finds that rather than shake her confidence in him, the fact that he overcame his inner demons and has to struggle 24/7/356 for control makes her trust and care about him as a friend even more.

Dr. Dana Scully [livejournal.com profile] 1breath
Liz has recently been promoted to agent because Sylar felt her training was being wasted behind a desk. While working as Sylar's Executive Assistant, Liz expended a lot of effort to get out of the office and away from paperwork, so much so that she sent an entire day helping Dana find an apartment and another half day helping her move into her office.

Dana is now Liz's closest friend in New York. Liz idolizes Dana a bit due to the fact that she used to work for the X-files, a more "acceptable" branch of the FBI than BPRD ever was. Liz trusts Dana 100% and tells her almost everything regarding her past, her present and her hopes for the future. Dana knows about Hellboy, BPRD and most everything because Liz told her, even showed her pictures, told her stories about missions and generally would have been Mannings worst nightmare with all her secret exposing. Good thing Dana is former FBI and knows how to keep a secret.

Liz is working closely with Dana on the Rachel Linderman [livejournal.com profile] rachelspain case. They are in the process of discovering more about her past and her connections to the Company then and now.

Cpt. Jack Harkness [livejournal.com profile] captain_flyboy

Then there's Jack. Definitely the primary "person of interest" in Liz's life in New York.

Liz just happened to sit on the same bus stop bench for a smoke on her lunch break as Jack was sitting at just people watching and thinking. For some reason, after asking him for a light, Liz found herself to be more curious and flirtatious with Jack than she ever has with anyone else, even to the point of being too nosy. After much pushing, and showing him her fire,(Jack was the the second person in the Shades 'verse to see Liz's fire, Sylar being the first) Jack admitted some things to Liz, most importantly the fact that he can't die and that he is protecting his friends. Though incredibly shaken by the fact that the had to die to "reset" himself, she promises to keep his secrets and has not told anyone about them, not even Dana or Sylar.

During Liz's second 'chance' meeting with Jack, she begins pushing him again to talk about himself and his past, only to find that he is pushing back on her for information about the Company. After much effort, Liz convinces Jack to meet with her Boss. Liz doesn't realize it, but she is doing all this because she is developing a very obvious crush on Jack.

At the meeting, Liz is shocked and very hurt to find that Jack has already met Sylar, and has told Sylar more about his past and himself than he told Liz. In an almost complete 180 turn, Liz find herself being very combative with Jack after he starts working for the Company, even going to far as to have a screaming match on the roof when both of them happen to be working late. This results in Liz's first major changes in ability. Her fire was always blue in the past, and now it is orange. The reason for this is because Liz is dealing with more angry emotions rather than sad ones. She also finds she is far less able to control her ability when Jack is around, but being as she is not consciously aware of her growing feelings toward Jack, she only gets angrier about it. Jack does admit things to Liz, things she never imagined were possible. After hearing them, Liz is immediately feeling guilty and sad for pushing Jack to think about the things he's running away from.

After the roof incident, Liz makes a conscience effort to avoid Jack, deliberately avoiding anything that would take her to the section of the building he works in. When they do happen to cross paths, Jack is more sweet and kind to Liz than he ever has been, which confuses her even more.

Things between Jack and Liz start to come to a head when Liz, Dana and Dana's son William visit the Museum and run into Jack. (quite literally in William's case) Liz discovers by accident that Jack worked closely with Prof. Trevor Broom, her late boss and father figure at BPRD. Jack breaks the news to Liz that Broom was dying of terminal cancer. This encounter ends in just as a confusing manner for Liz, who is already emotional from the news of Brooms sickness, when Jack 'technically' kisses her and then leaves before Liz can even get a word in.

Eventually, Liz works up the courage to 'talk' to Jack about what happened that day at the museum. Somehow, not a lot of talking is done. Jack tells Liz that there is simply 'tension' between them, nothing more. Liz is very disappointed by this and finally begins to admit to herself that the reason she is so fascinated and curious about Jack is because she is falling in love with him. Of course, she didn't realize it because she has never been in love before. Unknown to her, Jack is wrestling with similar feelings.

Upon returning from Las Vegas, Liz and Jack again have another somewhat heated conversation on the roof which leads to both of them admitting there are real feelings between them, not just 'tension'.

Liz asks Jack to come with her to BPRD to tell Hellboy about his father having cancer. Liz has not yet told Jack about the ‘encounter’ with Red in Russia, and all she told BPRD Agent Myers is that she was coming with a guest to speak with Hellboy.

There is immediate tension between the three, Hellboy does not believe them that Jack knew both Broom and Hellboy during the War. Red tells Liz to “Prove it” and she gets the idea to find evidence in Brooms Study. She comes back after a short run in with Dr. Tom Manning and shows Red a photo album with pictures of Red, Jack and Broom together. Red becomes angry that Liz and Jack are obviously closer than just friends, and storms off. Jack tells Liz to follow Red and he goes off to Brooms study himself.

Liz follows Red and they have an emotional exchange. Both leave many things unsaid but agree that as long as they can get past the hurt feelings and remain friends, that they will be “OK”. Red then jokes to Liz about killing Jack if he ever hurts her as the two go back into the made are of Red’s room. Of course, Jack just happens to have come back, and over hears the end of the conversation.

Jack found some letters in Brooms office, most of which he hands over to Hellboy. He keeps one, which is from Broom telling Jack to watch over BPRD. Jack also meets Abe Sapien while in Broom study.

While Liz and Jack are leaving BPRD, they run into Manning, who in his usual fashion, condescending, demeaning and a general asshole. He badgers Liz about not giving him more information, then badger Jack even more about his nearly non-existent on paper past. Jack gives Manning the letter in which Broom asks Jack to help with BPRD and Manning becomes very insulting. Jack gets upset enough to punch Manning in the face, much to the delight of MOST of the members of BPRD, especially Red.

Liz drags Jack out of BPRD, trying to get him to calm down and drop the worry about BPRD because she doesn’t know Broom asked Jack to help. Jack keeps insisting things could be better run, but Liz doesn’t see a way for that to happen.

They decide to make dinner at Liz’s place. While at the grocery store, Liz discovers a tabloid magazine that talks about the world’s third richest man. She jokes about it but finally puts two-and-two together. Outside the store, Jack gets a bit defensive. Liz reassures him that she doesn’t care about money in the least. Jack makes the suggestion of taking the BPRD off of US Government funding and letting Hellboy, Abe, and John Myers run the program, much to Liz’s excitement.

(Yeah....Jack and Liz play A LOT no time to update this...so here it is for easy access(and for my own reference too, I am a terrible note taker lately. Too busy playing.))

Dinner and a bunch of 'firsts' AKA "The Marathon thread".

Angst ridden Jack. Liz brings cake. Cake fixed EVERYTHING.

Liz runs into Luke, and breaks his arm. Jack to the rescue.

Can you say "post traumatic stress"?

Jack gets his head shrunk and Liz wusses out.

Liz really needs to stop killing Jack with her fire.

Total dream date....or maybe not.

EPIC BATTLE.

Kiss and Make Up?

Liz learned how to cook? Yeah. She's just as shocked as you are.

Gabriel Gray [livejournal.com profile] graylikeme
Liz meets Gabriel Gray at the video store the night before she goes to the Museum with Dana and William. They meet when both of them reach for the last copy of Labyrinth. At first Liz is terrified, as she is only aware of one Sylar duplicate, the one that is a viscous power hungry killer. Liz soon realizes that this Gabriel is 'pre-Sylar'. An offhanded comment leads to them both becoming very excited about about Star Wars and going to coffee, where Liz admits she has never seen Star Trek The two flirt quite a bit, though both of them seem to not realize they are doing it.

What happens between Liz and Jack the next morning, unfortunately throws almost all "more than just friends" feelings for Gabriel out the window. Liz has confirmed with Sylar that Gabriel is his "brother" and thus feels more at ease with him and more willing to share things with him. She and Gabriel meet at Liz's apartment to watch Star Trek, though they spend more time discussing their lives and showing each other their respective abilities than watching the DVD. They then go for late night coffee and dessert at a little cafe near Liz's apartment and talk about anything and everything, but mostly their shared affection for desserts.

Luke Campbell [livejournal.com profile] nuke_campbell
Liz runs into Luke and Kitty while after picking up lunch on day. She assumes the two are on a date and offers to buy them a snack at her favorite café. Luke is very closed off and even a bit rude, but Liz is in a great mood and seems to ignore it. She realizes too late that Luke has an ability that allows him to melt the back of her phone when he borrows it to call his Dad.

A few day later, Liz decides she wants to make dinner for Jack and goes to the grocery store Luke just got a job at. Liz knows he has an ability of some kind, but doesn’t want to force it out of him. After an awkward exchange, Luke becomes upset, using his powers to ‘nuke’ the contents of Liz’s shopping basket before running off. Liz follows him, seeing him with his head in a sink full of water. Being the type to overreact, Liz assumes he is trying to hurt himself and tries to save him. Luke’s arm is broken in the process. Liz takes Luke to the ER and calls Jack for help. Jack convinces the Hospital to treat Luke and will cover the bills, as Luke has no insurance. After Luke is treated, Liz and Jack explain to Luke some things about the company and offer him a ride home. Luke tells them he will be in touch in “a few days”

When that time has passed, Liz takes it upon herself to track Luke down, finding he lives in the same apartment building as Gabriel Gray. Liz confronts Luke, with Gabriel in toe after Liz forces him along, and Luke runs off in a huff saying he has plans.
