OOC: A thought on 'Secret' comms.

I find it amusing how people are so willing to accuse people of things and call them out behind the 'protection' of the anon comment and/or the 'secret' post because it's 'safe'.

You're doing it wrong.

If you're not brave enough to say something openly that you feel strongly enough to make a shit paint 'secret' about, I don't put much stock in any accusation you make, opinions you have, or judgments you make on anyone or anything. Call me crazy, but I believe what I see with my own eyes, not what I'm told to believe by someone else.

My opinion is sorta complex on this. On one hand, I think that anon forums are helpful for open discussion without worrying that it will affect how others tag you and (hopefully) without shaming people for their opinions. I feel a little better giving anon opinions *in open communities, not really with a post like this because I've talked to you OOC before) for this reason. On the other, to use anon to blatantly attack someone is ridiculous and cowardly and I don't think there's a place for it in RP or anywhere else.

The secret that made me just HAVE to post this (after I took some times to cool off and watch the Batman Musical) claims the mun in question (and it was a blatant call out) did things I am flat out SHOCKED to hear after years of playing with them. It's so OOC for the player I know that it's like someone said my Grand Mama ate kittens for dinner before murdering orphans. I just can not see the person I know doing these things. I CAN however, see trolls attacking them. :| (Look at me being all open. :P No srsly, I don't want to spread wank so I'm not linking or saying who, what, or where.)

I get where you're coming from on the anon thing, and I don't blame the anons for being anon. It's hard and scary to take off the mask and speak your mind. It will always have both positive and negative consequences, and I'm just waiting for the day someone link me that I'm on RP!S for what I said publicly. Guess what? IDGAF. XD

Bottom line for me: I won't take any stock in 'secret' claims compared to what I have experienced myself and what people I have played for a long time with tell me that is contradictory to an anon secret.

I stay away from those comms for exactly that reason. Same reason I stay away from bad_rpers_suck, too, because if someone's gotta talk crap about someone else in a comm like that and not do it directly (or at least discretely), then they're not worth my time.

But what you're describing, I totally agree with you. I know the people I RP with - for the most part - and yeah, I'm gonna trust what I've experienced over what some stupid anon says.

Most of the anon discussion I'm referring to isn't so much directed at one person but is about RP in general. I'd never single out anyone or be meaner than necessary, even anon. But sometimes it does help to vent anon and realize that there are others who are annoyed by the same things as me.

Attacks on people directly, that's just low. We're all human, we all suck in a lot of ways and rule in a lot of ways. (usually)
