The sound of the boys laughing and shouting was almost enough to drown out the terrified yowling, but not quite. Unfortunately, Trevor and Thomas were too busy trying to knock each other out with pillows to notice they were traumatizing their cat.
“Boys, come set the table. Your father's home.” Liz pressed herself against the wall of the stairwell as the twins bounded down the stairs. She sighed as she knelt down to look under Trevor's bed. A pair of wide and shining blue eyes peering out at her.
“Sorry, Princess. Didn't know you were under there.”
