Characters: Liz Sherman, Elle Bishop (with Jack Harkness and a little mention of Abe Sapien)
Setting: Bump in the Night Verse
Prompt: Inquisitive!Liz Drabble Meme
AN: Not sure when Elle’s mun wants to have Elle join the BPRD, but I set this about a month before Jack and Liz get married. Again, this is so not a drabble but I don’t care. To paraphrase C-3PO, ‘Let the bunny win.’ Elle is more reserved than she probably should be, but I honestly do not know Elle that well :(

Liz stood and tried to act casual as she heard the chairs slide and Jack’s footsteps come to the other side of his office door. She’d had her ear pressed to it so tightly she almost didn’t notice the change in muffled sound.

Before she could flee, Liz met eyes with a pretty blonde no taller than she was. The newest BPRD agent was smartly dressed, but with a bit more sexiness than the average agent. Liz wasn’t quite sure how she felt about that yet.

“Uh…hi.” Liz smiled at the new girl, and gave her fiancé a pleading look. She wasn’t usually the type to easedrop, but she was very curious about this newest hire. Jack gave Liz that look she knew all to well, the one that said ‘we’ll talk about this later’ before he smiled at Elle.

“Ms. Bishop, my lovely fiancée Elizabeth will give you the tour now, if you’d like.” The blonde didn’t say a word, which Liz and the rest of the Bureau would soon find out, was very unlike her. She simply nodded, which prompted Jack to shut his office door while Liz glanced up and down the hall.

“So,” the darker haired woman looked at her newest coworker. “How much did Jack tell you about this place?” Liz asked as she started to walk down the hall. She figured it was best to start with Abe. He was always the least upsetting.

“Not as much as I’d like, he kept taking phone calls.” Elle sounded annoyed. She’d have to get used to Jack’s constant double and triple tasking just like the rest of the BPRD had.

“Yeah, things are a bit crazy around here.” Liz smiled as she stopped in front of the door to the library. It had been Trevor Broom’s office before his death but now it was more the place where everyone went for information.

“He didn’t say crazy, he said unique.” Elle said as she looked at the giant wooden door with ornate carvings.

“Unique?” Liz chuckled under her breath before she smiled. “That’s an understatement if I ever heard it.”

“Yeah?” Elle smiled back.

“Oh yeah.” Liz nodded as they made their way into the room. Liz turned her full attention to Elle before they were fully in the room. Her natural curiosity was getting the better of her. She just HAD to know what this new girl was all about, at least on the most basic level. “What can you do?” Liz asked eagerly.

“Oh, just this.” An almost devious smile danced over Elle’s lips as she held up a sparking blue ball of electricity. It was clear she enjoyed playing with her power. Part of that made Liz so very excited, but she couldn’t help wondering if Elle ever lost control of it. If she ever made things happen she didn’t mean to, just like Liz did with her fire. But that’s not something you ask someone you’ve just met.

“Wow.” Liz smiled, and Elle looked her up and down. She seemed to be silently asking for a little game of ‘Show me yours and I’ll show you mine.’ Liz laughed and held up her own hand. “Can you make it change colors?” she asked as she let a little blue ball of fire bounce on her fingers. She pulled her hand away letting the ball shift from blue to orange to a blazing bright white before it rose a little higher above their heads and flickered out.

“No,” Elle shrugged as she pointed her finger like a gun at an empty glass on Broom’s old desk. She pressed her thumb down and a split second later the glass was shattered by a little burst of blue sparks. “But I can do that.” Elle bounced a little on her toes, just like Liz did when she was proud of herself.

“Woah.” The pyrokinetic’s eyes were as wide as saucers as she stared at the chunks of glass. “That’s…” Liz couldn’t find the words.

“You can say it. I’m awesome.” Elle smiled at her new coworker.
